I found your diary while searching for something on the tamborim. Still haven't found what I'm looking for (the samba rhythm, written out, that one normally hears played on it), but your diary was a real pleasure to read. The web really is an amazing thing.

Really nice web site Lee. I started to make my own a few years back, but didn't know what the heck I was doing. This is inspiring me to try again. I like what you said about your daughter. My kids are 11 & 15 and it's so hard to communicate to them what I am all about. It would indeed be very nice to leave something like this for them to read and appreciate later on. 8 years after his death, I'm realizing more and more what a great man my own father was...of course I was too wrapped up in myself to pay too much attention when he was alive. Oh, we always got along, and I always loved and respected him...but i didn't know him as well as I should have. Anyway, when you have the time, email me with some info you may have on cheap/free sites to try something like this. Too much of my net time is spent uselessly (not talking PE either, as that place enriched my life in many ways).
BTW, I thoroughly enjoyed your political commentary! Sure, I happen to agree...but sometimes when I try to articulate these opinions, I get lost for words. You have done so very nicely, in a nice easy read. Kudos!

One day, we'll need to put a mic on the pandeiro so there can be one in the samba group.

Hey Lee, I found your site the same way Sean did, accidentally. Looks good and
I loved the old “giggin” photo. Hope all is well and thanks for keeping one of the best music forums on the net alive and kicking.
All the best,
Dom
